CECR COMMUNITY CAPACITY-BUILDING TRAINING PROGRAM: BUILDING SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES FOR ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND CLIMATE CHANGE ADAPTATION

On September 12–13, 2025, in Da Nang, CECR, in collaboration with local authorities, organized a community capacity-building training program on “Sustainable Communities for Environmental Protection and Climate Change Adaptation – Gender Equality – Water Resource Conservation” for core groups (including representatives from local authorities, mass organizations, and community members) from seven villages: Bo Ban and Thach Bo villages in Hoa Vang Commune; Ta Lang, Gian Bi, and Nam My villages in Hai Van Ward; Bac An village in Hoa Tien Commune; and Thai Lai village in Ba Na Commune, Da Nang City.

The training program enabled participating communities to:

???? Gain a clear understanding of the concepts, steps, and criteria for building Sustainable Communities for Environmental Protection and Climate Change Adaptation (SCCs).

???? Enhance awareness of gender equality, emphasizing the meaningful participation of both women and men in environmental protection and climate change adaptation activities.

???? Learn about river health concepts and assessment criteria, while jointly discussing and developing specific community actions to protect and improve river health.

???? Practice planning processes and identify priority activities needed to establish SCC models that are suitable for local conditions.

???? Update knowledge on policies and good practices in environmental protection and water resource conservation, contributing to stronger community capacity and creating a foundation for active community participation.

This training marked an important first step in laying the foundation for communities to collaboratively develop practical, feasible, and locally relevant Sustainable Community models that respond to real needs and challenges.
