On October 3–4, 2025, at Area A1 of Dong Xuan Market, Hoan Kiem Ward, Hanoi, Dong Xuan Joint Stock Company, in collaboration with the Paris Region International Cooperation Agency in Vietnam (PRX Vietnam) and the Center for Environment and Community Research (CECR), organized the “Zero Waste Dong Xuan Market” Festival under the theme “For a Green, Clean, Beautiful and Civilized Dong Xuan Market.”
The “Zero Waste Market” model was implemented under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between Dong Xuan Market and PRX Vietnam on October 16, 2024. The initiative is part of the Project on Developing Circular Economy Models in Hanoi for the period 2023–2024, funded by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, within the framework of the Joint Action Program between the Hanoi People’s Committee and the Île-de-France Regional Council.

Overview of the event
The event served as the closing activity of the 2025 pilot “Zero Waste Market” program, aiming to improve solid waste management at Dong Xuan Market while encouraging traders and customers to adopt waste reduction and waste segregation practices. It was also an opportunity to recognize and reward pioneering stalls that have maintained cleanliness and implemented green solutions, contributing to the development of an environmentally friendly and civilized market model in the heart of the Capital.
The closing ceremony took place at Area A1, Dong Xuan Market, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi, with the participation of nearly 60 traders, commodity group leaders, and representatives from the French Embassy in Vietnam, the Hoan Kiem Ward People’s Committee, PRX Vietnam, and the Center for Environment and Community Research (CECR).
In his opening remarks, Mr. Ngo Anh Toan, Head of the Economic and Urban Infrastructure Division of Hoan Kiem Ward, shared:
“Over the past period, the program has achieved many positive results: traders have actively participated in waste segregation at source, maintained clean and tidy stalls, and contributed to a more organized and civilized market environment. Most importantly, the awareness and habits of traders have gradually changed in a positive direction. This is a significant achievement that the ward leadership highly appreciates.”
