In Vietnam, an estimated 3.1 million tons of plastic waste are dumped on land every year. At least 10% of the mismanaged waste leaks into waterways. The amount of leakage could double by 2030 under a business-as-usual scenario. In its National Action Plan on Marine Plastic Waste Management by 2030, Vietnam aims to reduce marine plastic waste by 50% by 2025 and 75% by 2030. However, the fight against plastic waste has never been easy. So what should Vietnam do? What solutions need to be put forward to solve the current plastic waste problem?
