On December 23, the Deputies Working Committee under the Standing Committee of the National Assembly in collaboration with the Center for Environment and Community Research and the Vietnam Water Conservation Network held a conference on “The Amended Law on Water Resources in 2012 – Some highlighted policies” at the Information – Convention Center of Hung Yen province.
Overview of the conference
The conference was co-chaired by Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh, Standing Deputy Head of the Deputies Working Committee under the National Assembly Standing Committee; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Truong Manh Tien – Member of the Presidium of VUSTA, Chairman of the Vietnam Water Conservation Network (VIWACON); Ms. Tran Thi Tuyet Huong, Deputy Chairwoman of the People’s Council of Hung Yen province.
The conference was co-chaired by Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh (middle), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Truong Manh Tien (right) and Ms. Tran Thi Tuyen Huong (left).
Within the framework of the conference, the delegates were informed about: Current status of regulations related to water resource management; the issue of ensuring the security of water resources; assessment of pricing institutions in financial policies on water resources; international experience in restoring dead rivers… At the same time, the delegates exchanged and discussed related issues, especially the content in the amended Draft Law on Water Resources submitted to the National Assembly to be considered and approved in the upcoming meeting…
Attending and presenting at the conference, Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Ly – President of the Center for Environment and Community Research had a sharing on the topic – International experience in the restoration of dead rivers, and through that, Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Ly emphasized: “Water resources are only meaningful when they are protected against pollution sources”.
