On the afternoon of April 12, 2022, Da Nang Department of Natural Resources and Environment held a consultation meeting to interrogate the architectures in the component “Preventing water pollution at navigation lock and Tho Quang fishing port” under the project “Collective actions for water conservation” supported by the United States Agency for International Development – USAID and the Center for Environmental and Community Research (CECR) as the coordinating agency.
The meeting consulted the results of the initiative’s report “Assessment of the current status, environmental mapping and proposed management mechanism in the area of the navigation lock and Tho Quang fishing port” and the draft proposal of the initiative “Building a Database System and tools to support the management, monitoring, publicizing of environmental information, helping the community to participate in environmental protection in navigation lock and Tho Quang fishing port’’, as follows:
The initiative “Assessment of the current status, environmental mapping and proposed management mechanism in the area of navigation lock and Tho Quang Fishing Port”:
The meeting was attended by: Mr.Vo Nguyen Chuong – Deputy Director of Da Nang Department of Natural Resources and Environment; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Tran Van Quang; Engr. Thai Van Quang; Engr. Nguyen Trong Thu; Department of Agriculture and Rural Development; Son Tra District People’s Committee; City Border Guard Command; Management Board of navigation lock and Tho Quang Fishing Port; Hanoi Urban Environment Joint Stock Company – Central Branch; Center for Environmental and Community Research (CECR), Environmental Protection Sub-Department; Center for Natural Resources and Environment Monitoring; Information Technology Center of Natural Resources and Environment.
After the Monitoring Center reported on the progress of the Initiative, the group of experts and attendees had positive comments and detailed suggestions to improve the initiative’s activities in the next phase.
The Monitoring Center would base on the direction of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment leaders, the comments of experts and related organizations to complete the report contents. The objective of the report is to ensure that the causes and status of pollution in the navigation lock and Tho Quang fishing port are shown, and appropriate assessments and recommendations can be made to serve as a basis for activities contributing to pollution infection reduction in the areas
The initiative “Building a Database System and tools to support the management, monitoring, publicizing of environmental information, helping the community to participate in environmental protection in navigation lock and Tho Quang fishing port”:
The meeting is fulfilled with the participation of: Son Tra District People’s Committee; Management Board of Au Boat and Tho Quang Fishing Port; Center for Environmental and Community Research (CECR); Da Nang Microchip Center; Environmental Protection Sub-Department; Center for Natural Resources and Environment Monitoring; Information Technology Center of Natural Resources and Environment.
Under the direction of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, the Center for Natural Resources and Environment Monitoring and the Center for Information Technology of Natural Resources and Environment have prepared the content and presented a report on the progress of the draft proposal at the meeting.
The initiative proposal has received positive comments from relevant professional units to improve the subject. This is a new initiative, contributing to the application of technology in environmental management. Specifically, the database system will be used as an effective tool in implementing the tasks of the 2375 plan to deal with environmental pollution in navigation lock area and Tho Quang fishing port, Da Nang city in the period of 2020 to 2025 and specific environmental management tasks in the same areas.
At the end of the consultation meeting, the units reported and reviewed the implementation and performance of the initiative according to the signed Agreement then collected comments to improve the draft reports as well as the proposals to support the project implementation in the near future.
