Tiếng ViệtOn December 23, 2022, the Center for Environmental and Community Research in collaboration with the Department of Natural Resources and Environment and the Department of Education and Training of Hoan Kiem District organized a training program “Promoting Initiatives to conserve natural water in schools in Hoan Kiem district” in order to improve efficiency in the process of building a Green School on the topic of water at Kindergarten, Primary and Secondary Schools in Hoan Kiem District. Through the program, Hoan Kiem District People’s Committee launched the Water Conservation Initiative contest within the framework of the program “Building a Green School – For a Green Hanoi” in Hoan Kiem district in the school year 2022- 2023” for 21 elementary and junior high schools in the District.
Based on the Water Conservation Learning Kit built and developed by experts from the Vietnam Water Conservation Network, the teachers come from 39 Kindergarten, Primary and Secondary Schools in the locality. Hoan Kiem District’s desk has been strengthened with capacity and understanding of professional contents related to water conservation, provided with methods and tools suitable for each student to bring educational content to the table. Environmental education on water conservation in regular and extra-curricular classes appropriately. From there, prompting and motivating students to develop ideas and initiatives on water conservation, water saving, and water reuse in schools and families.
Through the knowledge about water conservation transmitted by the teachers in every lesson, the students actively came up with ideas and initiatives on saving water, reusing water, and protecting water resources. The organisers of the contest “Initiatives for water conservation” received 27 proposals from 13 primary and secondary schools in the Hoan Kiem district. Based on the technical, easy-to-implement, replicable and pervasive factors mentioned in the contest launching document, the Organizing Committee has classified and selected 10 excellent initiatives. was awarded funding to support implementation at the “Meeting of 10 excellent initiatives on water conservation within the framework of the program “Building a Green School – For a Green Hanoi” in Hoan Kiem district in the school year 2022. -2023″ which will be held on February 8, 2023.

Prof. Dr Hoang Thi Thu Huong – Hanoi University of Science and Technology – LaserPulse Project “Research and develop sustainable solutions to recycle and reuse wastewater for businesses and communities”; Dr Nguyen Khac Hung- Director of Center for Environmental and Community Research; Dr Ton Quang Cuong- Dean of Faculty of Education Technology- University School of Education, VNU; Ms Trinh Thi Minh Phuong – Deputy Head of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Hoan Kiem District; Ms. Dang Chinh Thao – Representative of the Department of Education and Training of Hoan Kiem District. Professional and objective assessment from the members of the jury, the results of the Water Conservation Initiative contest include: 02 First prizes, 04 Second prizes and 04 Third prizes.
