On the morning of March 2, 2023, the Center for Environment and Community Research (CECR) in collaboration with the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Hoan Kiem District and the Department of Education and Training of Hoan Kiem District, held a program summary: Green School – For a Green Hanoi” in Hoan Kiem district for the school year 2022-2023″- “In response to World Water Day 22/3/2023 – Hoan Kiem Green School pioneers water conservation”
The program was honoured to have the participation of Ms. Trinh Thi Minh Phuong- Deputy Head of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Hoan Kiem District; Ms. Dang Chinh Thao – Representative of Hoan Kiem District Education and Training Department; Dr. Nguyen Khac Hung- Director of the Center for Environmental and Community Research; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Hoang Thi Thu Huong – Hanoi University of Science and Technology, LaserPulse Project; Dr. Ton Quang Cuong- Dean of the Faculty of Education Technology – University of Education, VNU. In addition, the program received the participation of teachers on the Board of Directors, teachers from 39 preschools, primary schools, and junior high schools in Hoan Kiem district; and especially the participation and encouragement of teachers and students from schools with 10 excellent initiatives within the framework of the contest “Initiatives to conserve water within the framework of the program “Building Green School – For a Green Hanoi” in Hoan Kiem district in the school year 2022-2023.
The purpose of the program is to summarize the process of participating in and implementing the program “Building a Green School – For a Green Hanoi” in Hoan Kiem District in the school year 2022-2023″ and organizing demonstrations and exams for students. for the 10 best initiatives from primary and secondary schools in Hoan Kiem District on water conservation.
Practical activities from teachers and students have greatly inspired the school, family, and community. In particular, each student has become a bridge between the school, family, and community in water conservation and environmental protection activities. From there, help spread the message and respond to World Water Day 2023 with the theme “Promoting Change” to solve the water and sanitation crises.
Through professional and objective assessments from the members of the jury, the results of the Water Conservation Initiative contest include 02 first prizes, 04 second prizes, and 04 third prizes.
The initiatives that won the Third Prize are: “Manufacturing mini water filter cores in the family – Thanh Quan Secondary School”; “Initiative to raise awareness and promote practices on water resource protection and conservation in schools, communities, and families- Hong Ha Primary School”; “Exhibition on recycling plastic waste – Keeping water clean from small actions- Nguyen Ba Ngoc Primary School”; “Actions to save water and protect the environment- Tran Quoc Toan Primary School”.
The second prize is for 4 initiatives: “Manufacturing a domestic water filtration system using coffee grounds and coconut fibre – Nguyen Du Secondary School”; “Electric portal – Clean water, bright green city – Trung Vuong Primary School”; “Communication to raise people’s awareness of Lane 114 Ham Tu Quan in Chuong Duong Ward, Hoan Kiem District about water conservation – Chuong Duong Secondary School”; and “Chuong Duong Primary School with Communication Project We join hands to protect water resources- Chuong Duong Primary School”.
02 initiatives “Mechanical Water Purifier” – Ngo Si Lien Junior High School” and “Initiative to Clean and Protect Hoan Kiem Lake – Trang An Primary School” have excellently surpassed the remaining initiatives to step on the throne and become the highest!
The program has created a playground for students to unleash their creativity, study, and raise their sense of responsibility for water and environmental protection. Hopefully, the message “Green School – For a Green Hanoi” of the program will be spread more widely so that more and more people know and join hands to protect water sources in particular and the environment in general, while also contributing not only to a green Hanoi, but also to a green Vietnam and a green planet.
