On the afternoon of December 15, 2022, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Da Nang city held a workshop to Evaluate the implementation results of the project “Building Da Nang – Environmental City” for the period of 2021 – 2022 and develop a plan for 2023. The workshop is also within the framework of the Collective Actions for Water Conservation (CAWACON) project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), with the Center for Environment and Community Research (CECR) as the coordinating agency and the goal of contributing to the effective implementation of the Project’s activities.
Overview of the workshop
The project “Building Da Nang – Environmental City” for the period of 2021 – 2030 was issued by the People’s Committee of Da Nang City in Decision No. 1099/QD-UBND dated April 2, 2021. In the year 2021 – 2022, Da Nang City has been effectively implementing environmental protection according to the objectives set out in the Project.
Mr. Vo Nguyen Chuong – Deputy Director of Department of Natural Resources and Environment chaired the workshop
The workshop was chaired by Mr. Vo Nguyen Chuong – Deputy Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment. Attending the workshop were more than 50 delegates who were representatives of leaders of relevant departments, agencies, and sectors; People’s Committees of districts; associations, unions, experts, related units, news agencies, and radio stations.
During the workshop, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Ha – Deputy Director of the Environmental Protection Agency presented a report on the implementation result of the Project “Building Da Nang – Environmental City” for the period of 2021-2022 and summarized the proposed plan contents and cost estimates for the implementation of the Project in 2023. The report has outlined the results achieved after nearly 2 years (2021-2022) of the Project implementation, difficulties and limitations in the implementation process, and tasks that have not been achieved. At the same time, it also presented the tasks of the units aiming to deploy in 2023 to effectively implement the Environmental City Project.

After the overall presentation, under the coordination of the leaders of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, representatives of the units exchanged, discussed, and gave opinions on the tasks to be implemented in 2023; expenditure for implementation is allocated to branches and units. Difficulties and obstacles were discussed, and then proposed solutions to implement the Project’s activities in 2023 for each unit and organization.

Dr. Nguyen Khac Hung – CEO of CECR gave a presentation on the CAWACON project’s achieved results, contributing to the implementation of the Project’s objectives, and also made recommendations from the project side to maintain and replicate the results achieved in the following years. From the above contents, the leaders of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment also thanked CECR and CAWACON for their contributions to the implementation of the Project, strongly committed to effectively using and continuing to maintain the valuable support from the project. The contributions of the CAWACON project are a strong stimulus for the environmental protection activities of the Environmental City Project.
