Tiếng ViệtOn the afternoon of May 11, 2022, the Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment of Da Nang in collaboration with the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Thanh Khe district held a conference “The water quality of Phu Loc river and its regulatory lakes: Situation & Solutions”. The event is part of the initiative “Research and proposed solutions to protect the water environment of Phu Loc river with the participation of the community” within the framework of the project “Collective Actions for Water Conservation” supported by the U.S. Agency for International Development – USAID and coordinated by the Center of Environment and Community Research (CECR).

The conference had the participation of delegates from the following units: Da Nang Environmental Protection Agency, Water Resources Division of Da Nang Department of Natural Resources and Environment, Center of Environment and Community Research (CECR), drainage and wastewater treatment company, the People’s Committee of 2 wards of Thanh Khe district, the Division of Natural Resources and Environment of Lien Chieu district and the Farmers’ Union and the Association of Coracle Boats and Coracle Powerboats in Thanh Khe district.

At the beginning of the conference, the Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment of Da Nang presented the following reports: Research and proposed solutions to protect the water environment of Phu Loc river with the participation of the community presented by Assoc. Dr. Tran Van Quang – Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment of Da Nang; Current situation of environmental sanitation conditions in Phu Loc river basin with community perspective presented by MSc. Phan Thi Kim Thuy; Quality status of Phu Loc river and its regulatory lakes presented by MSc. Hoang Ngoc An; Report on “Database sharing information on water quality in Phu Loc river basin” presented by Dr. Tran Ha Quan.

After the reports on the current state of the environment presented, there was a seminar to discuss and collect ideas on solutions to protect the water environment of Phu Loc river from the delegates. Proposals raised in the discussion session include: Solutions to improve the environmental landscape of Phu Loc river by MSc. Architects. Duong Hung Minh – Danang University of Science and Technology, Phu Loc river connection project by the representative of Thanh Khe Tay Ward People’s Committee and specific proposals for solving environmental pollution problems of related agencies and community.
Practice using the database
At the end of the conference, the Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment of Da Nang received the comments to serve as a basis for completing the proposed solutions and plans to protect the environment in the Phu Loc river before handing over to Da Nang Department of Natural Resources and Environment for use in the near future.
