Newsletter 3 of Association Intellectual Women Environmental Protection and Climate Change Adaptation – Looking back on a year of operation of the Association

With the goal of  doing charity and voluntary activities for environmental protection and climate change adaptation, after one year of operation, the Association Intellectual Women Environmental Protection and Climate Change Adaptation has been initially stabilized and have achieved certain results. We look back at one year of operation of the association and activities planned for the next year.
ACTIVITIES IN THE FIRST YEAR:
Although newly formed, most of the Associations’ members are retired officers or are involved in other agencies, but with volunteerism, all members have actively participated in the Association’s proposed plan.
1. Regular activities:
– Organized meetings on June. July and October 2013, February and March 2014.
– Launched two Associations newsletters of May and August 2013.
2. Scientific research:
– Developed the research proposal: “Study the influence of family environment and surroundings on the health and life quality of poor communities living along Set and Kim Nguu river, Hanoi and propose solutions to improve living environment quality in family scale”. However, the proposal has not been approved yet.
– Became a member of Coalition to Advocacy for Water Pollution Control and Clean water Act, from May 10.2013.
– Became a member Hanoi Lake Club.
3. Other activities:
– Participatde and contributed ideas for the program “Female Intellectuals and Intellectual Property”.
– Participated in the ceremony honoring the 7 heritage trees in the Tran Khat Chan Temple, Thanh Hoa (02/06/2013).
– Participated in the celebration of World Environment Day in the Hue City (05/06/2013).
– The Associations’ participants joined EarthDay event (22/04/2013) at Thong Nhat Park.
– Participated in activity to clean the lakeside area of two lakes: Pho Linh Temple Pond and Cheo Pond, Quang An Ward, Tay Ho District (02/06/2013).
– Joined the premiere of the book “Vocational and professional stories in diplomatic service” by Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoi – Vice Chairman of the Association, a co-author (16/05/2013).
– Participated in the workshop introduced the bactericidal detoxifying machine Ozimba, Entech exhibition – environmental technologies (29/05/2013).
– Shared information on health and family tips via email: Health care, how to make clean bean sprouts, how to compost waste into fertilizer…
– Launched the movement “Cleaning up” in the Association, from October 2013.
– Constructed the Association facebook fanpage.
With these achievements, the Association has been awarded a certificate of merit, Ms. Bui An Ninh and Duong Thi To have been awarded certificates of merit for environmental protection achievement by Vietnam Association for Intellectual Women.
ACTIVITIES PLANNED FOR YEAR 2:
– Maintain the organization of regular Association meetings.
– Continue to write online newsletters.
– Organize voluntary activities accordance with the resources and capabilities of the Association.
– Join activities of Hanoi Lake Club.
– Continue to participate in the Coalition to Advocacy for Water Pollution Control and Clean water Act.
– Recommend a period of 30% discussing issues of family relations in the new era.
– Continue activity forms of sharing information online about environmental protection and response to climate change.
