Responding to the World Water Day 2016 "Water and Employment"

This morning, 20/3/2016, in Hanoi, Center for Environment and Community Research in collaboration with the Women Union of Ngoc Khanh Ward have co-hosted an event with the media message “A clean water source – a strong economy”, in order to raise awareness and change the behavior of environmental protection in general and protection of water resources in the community in particular. Participated in the event were the officers of Standard Chartered Bank and many people from Ngoc Khanh Ward.

Shared about World Water Day, Mr. Truong Manh Tien – President of Hanoi Lake Club said: “In the opening ceremony of Hanoi Lake Club, in order to emphasize the precious of Water – the Life’s treasure, our Club gave the message “Together we keep a clean water source – where life begins”. Over the years, club’s members have shown determination to gradually spread this message with practical works, to help preserve and improve the situation in some Hanoi lakes so that these lakes will become cleaner, better in the context of climate change. The annual action programs of the Club have been responded and completed effectively by the members. Hanoi Lake Club will continue to implement an action program, inspires each capital citizens together with national citizens to preserve and share every drop of water – such as blood feeding their bodies “.
World Water Day (22/3) is the international day to honor water resources, especially fresh water resources. The first World Water Day was initiated at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) in 1992 in Rio, Brazil. The UN General Assembly took the day 22/03/1993 as the first World Water Day. Since then, the World Water Day is celebrated annually across the globe.
