Training on "Improve community capacity in Hanoi’s Lake Protection Work and Response to Climate Change"

toan-canh-compressed Within the framework of the project: “Responding to Municipal Climate Change: Local initiatives in disaster risk reduction in Hanoi through the participation of the community and municipal surface water management” sponsored by the US Embassy. On the day 18/3, Center for Environment and Community Research, Hanoi Lake Club has organized the training session “Improve community capacity in Hanoi’s Lake Protection Work and Response to Climate Change” with 3 goals:

– Raising awareness about climate change, disaster prevention and community involvement in the protection of ponds and lakes ecosystems.
– Building skills for the local community to establish an action plan; promoting the implementation of initiatives to restore and improve water quality and community-based waste management.
– Developing a plan of action on environmental protection and climate change.
Participating the training were representatives of the US Embassy in Hanoi; the lecturers who are experienced people in the field of lake protection, climate change; and more than 40 media representatives from local community that possesses lake such as Kim Lien ward, Ngoc Khanh, Quang An, Ha Dinh, Hoang Van Thu….and groups of student from volunteer clubs.
