WORKSHOP: “LOOKING BACK ON 3 YEARS OF DEVELOPMENT AND DEVELOPING AN ACTION PLAN OF VIETNAM WATER CONSERVATION NETWORK”

On May 18 and 19/ 2023, at Sea Pearl Hotel, 219 1/4 Street, Cat Ba Town, Hai Phong City, the Vietnam Water Conservation Network (VIWACON) organized the workshop: “Looking back on 3 years of development and developing an action plan of Vietnam Water Conservation Network”. 

Representative leaders from 07 core member organizations of VIWACON Network had joined the workshop, including: Center for Environment and Community Research (CECR), Center for Development of Community Initiative and Environment (C&E), Center for Sustainable Development Of Water Resources And Adaptation To Climate Change (CEWAREC), School of Environmental Science and Technology – Hanoi University of Science and Technology (INEST), Vietnam Fisheries Society (VINAFIS) , Center for Water Resources Conservation and Development (WARECOD), Environmental Economics Magazine.

The workshop was organized with the following purposes: Looking back, reflecting, and evaluating the activities and achievements of the VIWACON Network in the past 3 years to propose an action plan of the network for the period of 2023-2025.

The workshop was organized formally but also in a friendly,cooperative manner. The workshop was also an opportunity for members of VIWACON Network to share stories, advantages and obstacles in implementing the activities of the network. Thereby, the members shared experiences and lessons learned on improving the efficiency of operation, mobilizing resources, communication, and promoting the Network’s images and achievements, and so on. In the openess of the workshop, italso a place to connect, unify, and understand each other better for members of the Network. As a result, a Coordination Agreement between the core members was developed and agreed upon.

The workshop concluded with the hope that VIWACON will continue to operate effectively in the coming time, to carry out its mission of Water Conservation, as well as to mobilize the supports and cooperation from more organizations and individuals. As Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Ly – Founder, Chairman of the Management Board, andSenior Technical Advisor of CECR had spoken about the mutual spirit of the Network at the Conference: “Nowadays, Hanoi lakes are facing the threat of being heavily polluted; but they cannot speak for themselves. Let us be the speakers for them instead, for the clean water.”
