This morning, November 4, 2022, the Center for Environment and Community Research in collaboration with the Department of Education and Training and the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Nam Tu Liem District organized the Training program: Environmental education for secondary school students on reduction, classification, and recycling of low-value plastic waste in 2022 in Nam Tu Liem district” at Nam Tu Liem Secondary School.
Attending the program were Mr. Nguyen Quy Trang – Deputy Head of the Education and Training Department of Nam Tu Liem District, Ms. Dao Thi Hong Le – Deputy Head of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Nam Tu Liem District, Ms. Doan Vu Thao Ly – Deputy Director of the Center for Environment and Community Research, Ms. Dang Thuy Trang – Communications Deputy Director of the Center for Environment and Community Research, and Ms. Dong Thi Thanh Huyen – Representative of Hanoi Urban Environment Company Limited – Cau Dien Branch (Urenco 7). Especially, the participation of teachers on the Board of Directors, teachers in charge, and teachers of environmental sanitation of 24 secondary schools in Nam Tu Liem district.

The program has provided teachers of secondary schools in Nam Tu Liem District with the contents related to the policy of Hanoi city and the plan of the People’s Committee of Nam Tu Liem District on the Prevention of plastic waste and Waste collection in Nam Tu Liem District to help teachers get an overview of the system of policy documents from central to local levels and the current status of waste collection in Nam Tu Liem District.
In addition, CECR experts shared useful information about the implementation of the circular economy of waste resources and the role of schools as an important communication bridge. Learn about various forms of communication to raise awareness in the classroom and the steps to develop a school-level action plan with full contents of Core Team building and instructional communication activities for students to perform a garbage audit, and record the initial and final week’s waste statistics to measure change.

At the end of the program, all the teachers participated in the exchange to find out information in the training materials, build ideas, and share topics according to the parts of the document. The teachers brought meaningful colors and messages in their presentations.
